Walter Fredrick Morrison Disc Golf Course at Creekside
The disc golf course at Creekside Park was first established in 1982 and is one of the first 50 disc golf courses in existence. The course has been officially renamed the "Walter Fredrick Morrison Disc Golf Course at Creekside". This renaming was done during the Creekside Open Disc Golf tournament that was held on May 15th and 16th, 2004. Walter Fredrick Morrison is the person who first invented and patented the plastic flying disc and he was in attendance during the renaming ceremony. Walter is a resident of Richfield, Utah.

The process of renaming the park in Walter's honor was orchestrated by the nice people at Colonial Flag in Sandy, Utah. A flag pole and a stone monument were donated and installed at the park as part of the ceremony.

The discatcher on each hole in the course could be located in any one of three different positions. Some holes have more than one teepad. So there is a lot of variety to how the course plays. The pins are relocated many times during the course of the year.

The map of the course shows each of the possible pin placements.

Creekside Park is located about twenty minutes from downtown Salt Lake City and is a few blocks west of the Cottonwood Mall.

Valley Regional Park in Taylorsville
The Valley Regional Disc Golf Course in Taylorsville is located about twenty minutes from downtown Salt Lake and only about twenty minutes from Creekside (almost due West of Creekside). The entrance to the couse is located between the Park Library and the Taylorsville Swimming Pool.

The Valley course is very flat and, depending on where the pins are located, can be very long. To increase the difficulty, play all paths and beyond as OB. There are a lot of people who walk and jog through the park, so please be aware.

The new and improved printable map was provided by Will. Thanks!

University of Utah
Campus Recreation Services has recently opened a new 18 hole disc golf course with 2 practice baskets on the campus at the University of Utah. The Course is located on the east side of Wasatch Drive on the old University golf course. Please help us get the word out

Here is an excerpt from Big Wave Dave's experience at this new course:
The front 9 play with the trees, the back 9 deal with elevation. They have 2 practice basket at 40 feet apart (for horseshoes). Play the sandtraps as out-of-bounds (there are realy only 2 holes that they come into play). Most of the tee pads are concrete, the others are fly pads because they may have to redesign for construction. All the holes are in the long grass, good luck rolling. A few holes are on the old greens; which play extremely hot and fast. There are a few benches still left over from the ball golf course. Parking on weekends and after 6 is cool but during the day you need a permit to park real close. They are trying to work out a deal with the University to put meters so we don't need to buy a permit pass. You can always park in the hospital and walk down. The baskets all have sleeves so there is hope for multiple pins. There are no bathrooms available, nor drinking fountains. Service dogs are allowed, smoking is allowed but no alcohol or they will yank the course. Trash cans are now available, so please pick up after yourself.

Solitude Mountain Resort
The Solitude Disc Golf Course is great! It's located on the Solitude Mountain Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon and, for obvious reasons, is only available during late spring, the summer season and early fall. Take the lift up to hole 1 and play as you hike down the mountain! Hole 18 is a 1200 foot drive (over 400 vertical feet)!

The lift runs on Thursdays and Fridays from 1pm to 6pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 6pm. If you go up to Solitude at a time when the lift is not running, then the easiest way to hole 1 is to park at the Solitude Nordic Center near the Brighton Store and hike along the "Lake Solitude" trail. The hike will take you about 15 to 20 minutes. Be sure to leave one vehicle at Solitude's lower parking lot to get you back up to the Nordic Center parking lot when you're through playing!

The link below will take you to the Solitude Mountain Resort website where you'll find a map and description of each hole as well as a printable scorecard to use while you're enjoying the greatest, high-altitude, mountainside disc golf course in the world!

The Canyons in Park City
The Canyons course now has 18 holes! Jake and his crew have done a great job getting the new front nine in place. Here is an overview of the changes:

Front nine: elevation changes (2 across ravines, 1 uphill hole, 2 downhill holes), some wide open, some very tricky with trees and/or water hazards very close to the basket. A good mix of length, contour, obstacles and hazards. Starts at the top of the High Meadow lift. After the second hole, its downhill back toward the lodge.

The back nine is unchanged from last year. Similar to the front with a mix of types, but shorter than the front. It's more of a "positioning" layout requiring accuracy. Only one bomber hole - the 18th

The course is not very friendly to the discs due to the terrain. Its very rocky/dirt ground and trees. Errant throws can go missing in the creeks, ravines, and woods! But Mike Goar, our GM, is quite the player and he likes our course!

It's free to play once you get to hole 1! So ride your mountatn bike up to the lodge and have a go. Or pay the gondola fee - $15 for adults - and have at it. Alcohol is allowed, as are dogs, kids, etc. There is water at the lodge at the top of the gondola and at the benches at most of the tee boxes. Please respect the mountain enviroment and pick up after yourself and others.

Fairmont Park
The disc golf course at Fairmont Park in Sugarhouse is an object course. The tee signs and targets are painted on the light poles.
More than on any other course, it's very important to watch for people walking through the park - it's a very busy place.  And due to that fact, there will probably never be baskets there.
